Chain Bridge, Monmouthshire

Chain Bridge built circa 1906 carries the B4598 over the River Usk at Kemeys Commander within the County of Monmouthshire.
During March 2011, Crewe based specialist access company Up and Under Limited used TCBs to replace original rivets that were removed, while undertaking material sampling for Capita Symonds and on behalf of Monmouthshire County Council.


Bedlington Viaduct, Northumberland

The Bedlington viaduct was constructed in 1930 by the London and North Eastern railway company. During the early part of its life the bridge carried passenger traffic but has always been more widely used by the line taking coal from the mines to the port at Lynemouth.
The bridge is being re-strengthened and rivets replaced by Balfour Beatty. 40,000 TCBs are to be installed.


Mottram Viaduct

Horwich based company T.I.Coatings have used TCBs as rivet replacement and for re-strengthening work on the Mottram Viaduct near Glossop.

The viaduct carries the Manchester to Sheffield railway line across the deep valley of the river Etherow.


Rivet Replacement on swing bridge in Cheshire

During 2001, British Waterways replaced over 12,000 rivets dating back to the early 1900's with M22 TCBs. The bridge on the A49 near Northwich in Cheshire crosses the River Weaver. The river was canalised in the 1830s to link Winsford's salt mines to the sea.
